Bio
Lyric Soprano Rena Maduro (24) recently finished her master’s degree in Vocal Performance at New England Conservatory, where she studied with Bradley Williams. She graduated from Northwestern University (2024) from the studio of W. Stephen Smith. A California native, she studied voice and piano from a young age and has won several competitions including the Spotlight Competition (1st place classical division), the Dante Alighieri Voice Competition, and most recently, was one of the winners of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition Boston District. Her past roles include Bastienne / Bastien und Bastienne(New Opera Company of Boston), Madame Silberklang / Impresario (New Opera Company of Boston), Annina / La Traviata (New Opera Company of Boston), Susanna / Le Nozze di Figaro (NEC), Rusalka / Rusalka (NEC), Virtù / Poppea (NEC), Silvia / L’isola Disabitata (NU), Cendrillon / Cendrillon (NU), Cunegonde / Candide (NU) and Queen of the Night / The Magic Flute (NU). She is grateful to the many people who have taught, inspired, and encouraged her to pursue performance. Outside of opera, Rena finds enjoyment in collaborative piano, teaching, and choral singing. She spends her spare time crocheting, journaling, and solving rubik’s cubes. She is passionate about performance and believes that singing is a joyful expression of the soul with the power to unite, heal, and most importantly, create community.
